Thousands turn out for Mardi Gras
THIS year’s Mardi Gras festival has been hailed as the most successful yet.
Colourful and outrageous costumes filled Bute Park in Cardiff as the festivities got under way.
Organisers said the ninth annual gay pride event attracted 40,000 people. People went along to see the live music, enjoy fairground rides and get into the party mood.
Former Steps star Lee Latchwood-Evans entertained the crowds, along with Stuart Cable.
Torchwood star John Barrowman even made an appearance on the main stage.

Co-chairwoman of the event Sue Thomas said: “There were so many people enjoying themselves. This has definitely been the our best year yet.”
Revellers certainly agreed.
Hannah Mackinnon and Rachelle Evans had come along dressed up and ready to get into the party spirit.
“There is such a great atmosphere,” said Hannah, 18, who was dressed in fairy wings and a corset.
Rachelle, 23, from Ely, Cardiff, added: “I always have an amazing time here. Everyone can just be themselves.”
Niamh O’Beirne, Bethan Jones and Jemma Flynn, all 16, were dressed in matching pink T-shirts specially made for the festival.
Niamh, from Pentyrch, said: “We’re having a great day. We’ve never been before and wanted to see what it was like.”
Barbara Broughton, 17, from Penarth, said: “This is the third year I’ve been. The live music here is really good. It’s a great way to meet new people. I’ll definitely be dancing later.”
Luke Dixon, 23, a trainee solicitor from Cathays, Cardiff, said: “It’s really nice to see families here and people of all ages. It’s nice to have a day where everyone feels confident and it’s a brilliant excuse to party.”
Meanwhile, in Barry visitors were enjoying the Tall Ships Festival at Barry Waterfront, at the weekend.
Thousands of people flocked to the event, which featured the Prince William, the Tall Ship Tenacious and the 91-year-old Baltic trader, Ruth.

Doctor Who to return for fifth series in 2010??? WTF?
After months of media speculation, the BBC can confirm that the BAFTA award-winning Doctor Who will return for a fifth series in Spring 2010.
Viewers are in for a treat this Christmas, as a special episode starring David Tennant and Kylie Minogue will be broadcast on BBC One in December 2007.
Series Four, which went into production in July 2007, will hit UK screens in Spring 2008, followed by a special episode for Christmas 2008.
In 2009 Doctor Who will return with three specials starring David Tennant, with Head Writer, Russell T Davies.
The full-length fifth series will transmit in 2010.

Its journey over the past three series has been one of the most ambitious and exciting that we have had, and I'm delighted to be able to confirm not only three exciting specials for 2009, but a fifth series in 2010. Following the critically acclaimed season three finale, the BBC has announced that Catherine Tate is set to return to the TARDIS for the complete 13-week run of series four, reprising her role as Donna from the 2006 Christmas special.
Freema Agyeman, who won praise for her portrayal of Martha Jones in series three, is also set to return mid series four.

Tennant Probably out for season 5
The Royal Shakespeare Company has announced David Tennant will star in a production of Hamlet to run July 24th thru November 15th 2008 (which will also feature Patrick Stewart as Claudius), and will also be appearing in Love's Labour Lost in Oct/Nov.
If this is true, it pretty much puts the kibbosh on his participating in season 5 of Doctor Who.

McGann denies new movie rumour
Paul McGann has denied rumours that he is to reprise his role as The Doctor for a new movie.
A few weeks ago, there was a rumour that Paul McGannwas 'in-talks' for a new Doctor Who movie.
Speaking to SyFy Portal's Alan Stanley Blair at the recent Collectormania show, Paul officially denied the rumours with the following statement:
“I’ve heard as well, yeah I’ve heard,". "Well they haven’t called me, but often you hear it first through rumor. But you know... yeah I’d go back and do it … as long as I don’t have to wear a wig."
Paul then goes on to praise David Tennant:
"I really really like him. I think he’s brilliant. And what’s more, he is a huge ‘Doctor Who’ fan and so he’s really passionate about it. I should be honest with you; I was never a huge fan. I watched a few things and ‘Doctor Who’ was one of them but I wasn’t completely passionate about it. But for David Tennant, it’s like the job of jobs to him."
