Episode Nine is titled "The Family of Blood" , which is written by Paul Cornell and expected to be based on Cornells novel; Human Nature. No title has been given for the first part of this 2-part adventure. The novel Human Nature is an original novel written by Paul Cornell and based on the long-running British science fiction television series Doctor Who. The novel was also serialised in e-book form on the BBC Doctor Who website. A prelude to the novel, also penned by Cornell, appeared in Doctor Who Magazine #226, and is also available on the BBC website. The plot of the book revoles around The Doctor becoming human to experience it for himself, and falling in love. Meanwhile, Bernice summerfield has to face the invading aliens without the assistance of a Time Lord.
Summerfield was 26th century archeologist, and became a hugely popular character amongst fans of the books, and was present right up until their end in 1997.
You can read the story online here. Rumours have long suggested that this story may be adapted for a two-part story in the 2007 series of Doctor Who, the second part of which is titled The Family of Blood.
The inclusion of several characters of the same names as those in Human Nature in Cornell's new story (namely Joan, Tim, Hutchinson, Rocastle and Lucy), and the setting of the story in 1913 as revealed to Jo Whiley on Radio 1 suggest these rumours may be correct.
In a poll run by Doctor Who Magazine to mark the 35th anniversary of Doctor Who (#265, June 1998), Human Nature was voted the readership's favourite novel of the New Adventures series.
It also stated that the episode will feature monsters known as "Jack Straws
