DOCTOR WHO BASED ON NAKED CHEF

British actor DAVID TENNANT begged producers to base sci-fi character DOCTOR WHO's look on that of British celebrity chef JAMIE OLIVER. Tennant, who stars in the BBC produced television series, was inspired by Oliver's look when he appeared on television alongside former Doctor Who actress BILLIE PIPER. He says, "I'd always wanted a long coat because you've kind of got to swish. "Then Billie was on Parky (British talk show PARKINSON) the same week as Jamie Oliver, who was looking rather cool in a funky suit with trainers. And I rang (show's creator) RUSSELL T. DAVIES and said, 'Are you watching this? Could we do this for the Doctor?' "They had wanted me to wear a stompy pair of posh boots, but the trainers were the one thing I did go to the wall on."
